The detail
A poncho cut long and wide enough to cover a thirty-litre pack as well as the person wearing it, in 10,000 mm ripstop nylon. Press studs down both sides close it in wind or open it for ventilation.
One size, and it goes on over everything in about four seconds.
The trade-off
In real wind a poncho flaps and lets rain in at the edges. It is unbeatable for stop-start rain and poor for a sustained exposed walk.
