The detail

Built for carrying weight, not for airports. The Trek Pro 32L has a real suspension system: an internal frame, a moulded hipbelt that transfers load to your hips, load lifters, and a ventilated back panel that keeps the pack off your spine so air can move.

The main fabric is rated to 10,000 mm, and the lid, base and seams are built for abrasion rather than for looking neat in a hotel.

The trade-off

There is no laptop sleeve and there is no clamshell opening. This is a top-loader with a lid, which is slower to pack and much better under load. It is also 1.38 kg, heavier than the travel packs, and every gram of that is frame.
